1 Day Mountain Trip (ROAD TRIP)
First Stop: Kinabalu National Park
Kinabalu Park is Malaysia’s first World Heritage Site. Also the Centre of Plant Diversity for South East Asia, the Park boasts more than 5,000 vascular plant species and the Park has no shortage of fauna as well, being home to some 90 lowland mammal species and many others.
The main attraction at the Park is none other than the majestic Mount Kinabalu, one of the highest mountains in South East Asia standing at 4095.2 metres. Apart from traditional mountain climbing, visitors can also experience the Mountain Torq, the world’s highest and Asia’s first Via Ferrata or ‘iron road’ at 3,200m to 3,800m above sea level.
Surrounding the Kinabalu Park is a multitude of natural attractions and enjoyable activities. A variety of accommodation is available within the Park and in its surrounding areas, ranging from basic hostels to luxury chalets.
Second Destination: Desa Cattle Dairy Farm
Located at the foothill of Mount Kinabalu, Desa Cattle Dairy Farm offers one of the most amazing scenery one could envision. Often chosen as a wedding photography destination, with the majestic Mount Kinabalu overlooking beautiful green pastures, the scenery is breathtaking, not forgetting the cool breeze that Kundasang has to offer.
The real attraction here is the cattle farm, producing about 900,00 litres of milk per year. The farm is 199 hectars and most of the milking cows are Friesians, the highest milk producers of all cattle breeds.
It is an ideal destination for the whole family, where there are activities such as feeding the calves with bottled milk, feeding goats with grass, how milk is processed as well as the milking process are available for all. If you have ever wondered how milk is made, Desa Cattle Farm is the place for you.
Before leaving, don’t forget to get some souvenirs especially the popular dairy products like Desa Cattle’s milk in a box as well as their ice cream. A visit here is both educational and fun!
Third Destination: Poring Hot Spring (Canopy Walk)

In the Local KadazanDusun dialect, ‘tagal’ means ‘no fishing’, and the main purpose of the ‘tagal’ is to preserve the environment as well as the ecosystem to benefit the future generation. ‘Ikan Pelian’ or Malaysian Mahseer comes from the family of Cyprinidae. These fishes are specifically trained by the villagers to perform the healing massage activities.
The fish massage is deemed to have a curative effect on those who suffers from psoriasis. Come to Kampung Luanti for regular fish massages and you will enjoy smoother and suppler skin – just like a baby’s bottom.
